When I was first heard of Dara Torres I was probably 10 years old. It was after the 2004 summer Olympics and people were saying there may be someone that will be 41 swimming at the 2008 Olympics. I couldn’t believe that, I thought it was much too old to be able to compete at the Olympics. Once I actually saw what she was doing I believed she had a chance at it. She became my personal hero because she proves to everyone that age means nothing. She shows everyone that if you have a dream you can do it no matter how old you are. What really attracts me about her career is she is a swimmer. I also swim and it is just so great to see someone who is as old as she is doing as great as she is doing.

The career Dora Torres is in is professional swimming. She is a spokesperson. Dara Torres has been to the Olympics five times and may try to go again. Dara Torres has gone through college and graduated. Dara Torres gets paid very well, but she does not brag about it. In fact, you probably wouldn’t even be able to tell she has more money than many well paid men.

Dara Torres was an inspiration to people since she started the sport of swimming. She displayed traits of greatness since she was young. Perseverance has helped her immensely in her career. She went to college and did well there and just showed signs of greatness throughout her youth. After her first Olympics everyone knew she had greatness and was going to be showing it throughout her whole lifetime.

Dara Torres contributes to society in many ways and she doesn’t even have to do anything. She shows people dreams can come true no matter what situation you are in. But she does more than just display good character and live a good lifestyle. Dara Torres speaks to the public about determination. She also talks about women’s rights and speaks out for unheard women.

In order to live a life like Dara’s I need to follow my dreams as well. I need to graduate high school and go and swim in college. I also need to work hard in college and graduate from college as well. This will set me up for my ultimate goal. I want to go to the Olympics and win a gold medal. I am going to have to train as hard as I possibly can and stay focused on my goals. I have to stay determined no matter what.
