A hero doesn't necessarily have to have super powers and a cape. A person whose character and actions are noble and goodhearted can be a hero. The traits include compassion, forgiveness, tolerance, and kindness.
An example of a hero is the Buddhist religious leader, the Dalai Lama. His beliefs transcend beyond just Buddhism because no matter what religion a person practices, they can learn from his teachings. The Dalai Lama believes in the promotion of compassion, tolerance, contentment, and self-discipline. A major concern of his is the promotion of religious harmony and understanding among the world's religions. Also, he believes that despite philosophical differences among religions, they should respect one another.
The Dalai Lama's beliefs and actions make him a true hero. This is why he has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent attempts to free Tibet. He's universally recognized for his message of peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding among cultures.
