Johnny D. Damon

by Maurice Spunkmeyer

Johnny Damon is my hero because he is a great athlete. He is a Major League Baseball player for the Boston Red Sox. He is an awesome player and qualifies in many ways to be a hero.

Johnny Damon was born on November 5, 1973 to a Thai mother and American father. He is 6’2” and weighs 205 pounds. His Major League debut was on August 12, 1995. Johnny got married in December. He lives in Orlando with his wife. He has 2 twin children from a previous marriage. Johnny is recognizable because of his long hair and beard. People call him “The Caveman” and “Jesus.” He is a very colorful character.

Johnny Damon plays center field for the Red Sox. He bats left and throws left. His number is 18. This season Johnny is the lead-off batter. He hit 9 home runs, has 185 hits, 107 runs, and 72 runs batted in. His batting average is 315. That is the highest on the team. He lead the Red Sox to the World Series and helped break the “curse.” After this season he will become a free agent. Johnny is an outstanding player.

I think that Johnny Damon is a great role model. He never gives up and always tries his best. He is a fantastic batter, outfielder and person. Johnny Damon is definitely my hero.
