John Paul DeJoria |
Business leader or philanthropist? My hero fits both categories. My hero is John Paul Dejoria, my father. He has inspired me to give rather than receive.
He is my hero because he goes all the way to Africa to prevent people from losing their limbs or their lives. He went to Mozambique, Africa. He goes in a blimp that can detect landmines in a certain perimeter. He works with Nelson Mandela, Brad Pitt, and Richard Branson to detect and remove landmines.
My dad anticipates getting rid of all landmines in the southern part of Africa in 7-8 years. He helps people that have been victims of landmines by giving them artificial limbs when they have lost theirs.

John Paul putting legs on victim in Africa |
John Paul went to a cottage filled with 20-30 victims that lost their legs because of landmines. After that he and his crew put metal and plastic legs on the people who lost their legs because of landmines. He also went to a beach to see a hair stylist who got her legs blown off by landmines and let her do his hair. I think it is awesome that my dad would do that.
I really enjoyed writing this essay. My dad is going to make the world a better place by getting rid of landmines. Every day is another day for someone to be a hero; you, too, can make the world a better place and be a hero.
