My hero is Princess Diana, who wasn't always a princess. As a young girl Diana travelled between her two parents John Edward Spencer and Lady Frances Spencer who divorced in 1969. As Diana grew older she excelled in swimming and ballet. Although she had to stop ballet early due to her height; Diana was 5’11” which was too tall for a dancer at that level.

One day, Diana appeared at a polo match, which Prince Charles also attended. When the two met and started talking, Charles asked out Diana to dinner. The couple started dating. It was February 6th of 1981 that Prince Charles asked Diana to marry him. On July 29th, 1981 the couple took each others hand in marriage. A year after their worldwide televised wedding, Diana mothered her first child, William Arthur Philip Louis. After her son's birth, Charles and herself decided that the media was trying to bombard the Royal family with questions and asking for pictures of the young boy. In making a decision Charles and Diana decided that William did not need that kind of harassment as a child. The decision was to have Diana take William on one of her many trips to Australia and New Zealand. As time passed Diana and Charles conceived their second child, Henry Charles Albert David. In December of 1995 Diana and Charles seemed to be slipping away from each other. The couple got divorced on August 26, 1996. Diana always gave her sons the world; she wanted them to be happy whatever the cost.

Diana did many things to help the 3rd world countries. She frequently visited the starving children in Africa. Diana also visited many landmine victims; her compassion and grace made a great impact on the people she visited. Shortly after Diana’s death there was a ban from use of anti-personal landmines. She is also known as the first high class celebrity to publically touch someone with HIV. As Diana helped those in need of care and love; she tried to overlook her personal struggles of bulimia and suicide attempts. Diana helped many of those in need, wanting them to live the life they deserved. As Diana’s fame kept rising she decided to use it to her advantage, to make people aware of charities that are quietly often overlooked.

The unfortunate tragedy of every young girl's hero; Diana Frances Spencer, Princess of Wales. On August 31, 1997 a fatal car crash occurred in the streets of Paris, France. This incident saddened the entire world due to their love and devotion to Diana. The accident was rumored to be caused by the paparazzi trying to take pictures of her. It was heard the paparazzi followed her and her driver on motorcycles. What was heard to cause the accident was that one of the camera people took a picture that blinded the driver, in doing so causing the car to swerve into a tunnel in Paris. Later it was concluded that paparazzi didn’t cause this horrific accident, it was her driver Paul who drove at high speed while intoxicated. Many people mourned this young woman’s death because of her care for the people that surrounded her. Once the public found out about her death they placed flowers in front of Buckingham Palace to show how much they cared for this inspirational woman. Diana was seemed to care about others more than herself.

I chose Diana Frances Spencer; Princess of Wales because not only did she help those in need of help, she did it even though she had personal issues to deal with. I find that what Diana did was strong and empowering towards woman all around the world and that any girl or woman who chooses Princess Diana as their hero will always cherish her in their hearts. If only their were more people in the world doing what Diana did for her people maybe we could then all live in peace.
