Diego is the main character of the preschool TV show "Go, Diego, Go!" It is a spin-off from "Dora the Explorer." Diego is a eight-year old Spanish boy. He is Dora's cousin. He lives in an Animal Rescue Center in the rainforest. Whenever he hears an animal's cry for help, he first identifies it and then goes off to save it. "Go, Diego, Go!" both teaches children a little Spanish and about various animals.

Other major characters in "Go, Diego, Go!" include Alicia, Diego's eleven-year old sister, who is quite skilled at using the computer, and Baby Jaguar, a jaguar who assists Diego on his missions and is his constant, devoted companion. Dora has also made numerous guest appearances in the show. Diego's main enemies are the Bobo Brothers, two mischievous monkey brothers.

Diego is my hero because he is so caring and considerate. Whenever there is an animal to save, he goes and saves it. No matter how difficult his mission is, he is willing to see it through, to save the life of a fellow creature. He is not selfish like so much of the present population. Watching him, we can realize how corrupt humanity is becoming. And then maybe, once we realize it, we can try and make amends for our terrible sins, making the world a better place. And this shows the power that a mere preschool show character can have on the entire world.

Diego is one of the few who deserve to be called a hero. Though he is only a fictional character, he has a powerful positive influence on humanity.
