Amy Dwyer

by Jessica from Wilmington

My hero is Amy Dwyer, my computer teacher. The reason she is my hero is that she is a humble, honest, earth-conscious, person. She wants the earth to be in better condition, and a lot of people, including me, respect that. She does a lot of things and is very busy. When she has time to spare she will go on a site called iEarn where you talk about the environment and other things. She even thought about a terrific project last year; recycling. It made a big difference to us, class 5, to the governor, and to a lot of other famous people who understand.

She is humble because she knows what she is doing. When she believes in something she doesn’t care what the newspaper or anybody says, she just keeps doing what she thinks is right. She reads and learns a lot every single day and likes it. She goes to a lot of places and meetings and hears what other people have to say.

Amy is the most honest person I have ever known. She knows what is right and what is wrong. She always tells the truth and never tells lies, even white ones. Even when she is sick (like she is now) she still does her job very, very well. She has many good ideas, and lots of them have included taken her students places like New York City or Dover.

Also, she is the most earth-caring person I have ever known. She recycles and hopes that we can have mandatory recycling in our little wonder, Delaware. Not only does she recycle but she does a bunch of other things to help the earth such as composting her clippings from her yard, and owning a hybrid car. She cares about the less fortunate, especially people in Africa, and hopes they will have a better life by having solar cookers. In Youth Can Club (an environmental after-school activity at my school) we used solar cookers and talked about the less fortunate and all the difficult things they have to do to survive.

Overall, Amy is one of a kind. I have never met anyone like her before. I think she is a very good role model and a very good person. I hope one day she will get a peace (or some other kind of) medal. But if not, she definitely deserves one!
