Elvis Presley

by Andy from Colorado

Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi. When he was about 14 years old, his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. He was raised there surrounded by the church music. The reason which I think Elvis is considered heroic is because he was a risk taker on everything. He was the first to mix different types of music together, and to risk his career to be in a movie.

First of all, Elvis is a hero to me because he risked his career for more than one thing. First of all, he twisted a couple of music rhythms together. Second of all, he risked his career on being the first singer to be in a movie.

Next, I think Elvis is a hero because he was the first to blend music together. He mixed the music of “black” rhythm, and blues with “white” country western, and rock ”n” roll. He risked his career by mixing all of that. If people didn’t like that he wouldn’t have sold any records.

Luckily Elvis released his first album, “Heartbreak Hotel” in 1956. In that same year he came out in a movie called “Love me Tender.” He risked his career making that movie. If it wasn’t any good, many people wouldn’t have bought his records anymore.

Elvis accomplished his career by succeeding in his music and in his movies. If he wouldn’t have risked his career, he probably wouldn’t have been so famous or a hero.
