Ellen Cadwallader-Mom (My mom's camera) |
Moms are almost always, in some way, a hero to their son or daughter. My mom is no exception. First I will tell a little bit about her. Her name is Ellen Cadwallader. She has a job working for a cruise company. She has done so many things for me in my life and I am going to explain one of them. This one is one that I consider very brave, courageous, and heroic. My mom and I consider it the reason that my grandma lived through a terrible time of being sick. This is the story.
It started around the day of my mom’s birthday. My grandma became very sick. She was nauseous and had a terrible stomach ache and pain. So we didn’t have any particular party or celebration for my mom’s birthday. Instead, she took my grandma to the emergency room. They checked her out and concluded that she had a bowel obstruction. It was a terrible thing. So terrible that she could’ve died. So she had surgery done on her. Luckily, the surgery went well. And all this time, my mother had been staying in the hospital with her. Then came the hard part: recovery. My grandma’s mind had become messed up and she couldn’t remember many things. Also, she had much trouble walking and was in great pain. And still, my mother stayed with her and gave my grandma the will to keep going. This is the heroic act that I am explaining. That she stayed with her the whole way though. I had to be taken care of still and was always in school. Also, my mom had to keep up with her work. So she did all these things the best she could, while giving my grandma the will to live through the surgery recovery. And she did it.
So all in all, my mother went on with her normal life however she could while staying with my grandma all the way through. This is the reason that my grandma kept going. If my mom hadn’t tried so hard, I would have lost my grandmother. But I didn’t. And it’s all because of my mother’s hard work. And so now today, my grandma lives with me and my mother in La Crescenta and she is doing great. So what my mom has done for me and my life is that she helped keep my grandmother, my mom’s mother, alive. She gave me the joy of getting to see my grandma every day and she risked not being able to do her job and keep me taken care of. In my eyes, that is tremendously heroic and brave. So now you go do something heroic, and see what great things happen to your lives. Thank you for listening.
