"Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It's about knowing and accepting who you are" (DeGeneres Seriously I'm Kidding). This quote is from Ellen DeGeneres' book Seriously I'm Kidding. In February 1997 Ellen's first show, Ellen, Ellen came out as gay. This inspired many people to be who they are and not change their looks and personality because the society is putting them in a box and giving them labels. Many people during that era wasn't really open to the LGBTQ community, but after DeGeneres came out she opened a door for many people. With her caring and generous heart DeGeneres inspired many people such as children and adults to be who they are.

Throughout her show, Ellen DeGeneres  has given many people money and prizes that help them through their hard times "DeGeneres helped out Spain Elementary School in Detroit, the building was decrepit and the students were relying on archaic technology to learn with. Things were so bad, in fact, that most of the kids didn't even have books. That all changed when DeGeneres and Lowe's donated over $500,000 to help to rebuild the school" (Lawrence Ellen DeGeneres is the Queen of giving Back).Throughout the shows Ellen DeGeneres invites ordinary people to her show and she gives them  prizes for doing what they do. This quote is one of the biggest achievements she has done, In addition she donated 500,000 dollars to provide a school with technology. ' "Jahana Hayes may have been more surprised to learn she was going to be a guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"... Shutterfly gave her school, John F. Kennedy High, a check for $20,000 and then gave her a check for the same amount, since she had been spending so much money out of her own pocket on her classroom"' (Ellen DeGeneres Biography). This shows how generous Ellen is. Jahana Hayes was having a hard time achieving her dreams because she got pregnant in her high school year. Ellen gave her about 20,000 dollars to achieve her dream. Overall DeGeneres has changed the lives of many people with her show.
