Ellen once said that if she had not become a comedian/talk show host, she would have wanted to become a veterinarian. Ellen DeGeneres is a very confident animal rights activist and a good amount of the charities she participates in are concerning the well being of animals. An example of her devotion to animal rights is a signed letter from Ellen to Congress, urging them to ban the use of chimpanzees in animal testing. Other cases where Ellen has taken initiative are the "Support Shelter Dogs by Making a Pledge!" campaign, the "Donate to Farm Sanctuary" campaign, the "Animal Tracks, Inc." campaign, and many others that gather on the Ellen DeGeneres show website. Ellen's lifestyle is even effected by her belief in animal rights since she chooses to be a vegan. Ellen DeGeneres displays a great strength in her animal rights activism since she is so impacted by it.
