Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy was born on April 3rd, 1967, in Brooklyn, NY. He spent his childhood in a predominantly black, lower middle-class neighborhood, in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York. Throughout most of that period, his home was a cramped apartment. His parents were Lillian Murphy, and Charles Murphy, who left them when Eddie was only three years old. Eddie's mother later had a son and a daughter, Miles Mitchell, and Bria Liana.

Eddie's first performances at nightclubs in Long Island, NY were in 1976, when he was only fifteen yeas old. Later, in 1980, he was cast as a featured player on Saturday Night Live, and recorded his first comedy album-Eddie Murphy- and appeared in first feature film, 48 HRS, in 1982. In 1983, Eddie starred in Trading Places, Also receiving a NAACP Image Award for Best Actor In A Motion Picture. He signed an exclusive contract with Paramount Pictures, and Eddie Murphy Productions was formed. In 1984, Eddie appeared in Best Defense, and received top billing for the first time in Beverly Hills Cop. He also released his first all music album, How Could It Be? in 1985. In 1988 Eddie Presented an Oscar for Best Picture at the Academy Awards Ceremony. He also starred in Coming to America, and signed a deal with CBS-TV to create Eddie Murphy TV Enterprises. In the year of 1989 Eddie wrote, produced, directed, and starred in Harlem Nights, and released his second all music album, So Happy. Daughter, Bria Liana, was born. In 1991 Eddie received the NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 1993, he releases his second all-music album, Love Is Alright.

During Eddie's lifetime there were many hardships and struggles he had to overcome. Racial segregation was still going on. He also had to move to a new house. And in 1969, his father, Charles Murphy, was stabbed to death by his girlfriend. These things had a major impact on his life.

I really admire Eddie because he was an exceptional comedian, and he never gave up hope. He never grew up lacking a strong father figure. He also had to deal with racial segregation. Yet he became a millionaire at 22 years old. He is also my one of my most favorite actors.
