Only a few athletes are truly unique. Earvin Johnson Jr. was definitely one of them! Many people know him by "Magic" Johnson. He was born on August 14, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan. He went to Everett High School and in college, he went to Michigan State. Magic is known for being a professional basketball player and played for the L.A Lakers team. He retired on May 14, 1996. Since he was such a great player, he made so many great accomplishments. Just to name a few of them, he was a member of five championship teams, won the Most Valuable Player Award, won the finals MVP Award three times each, and alson won a gold medal with the Original Dream Team at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.

There are so many basketball players then, and now. But no matter how much players come and go, Magic Johnson will always be my athletic hero, because even when he got the H.I.V disease, after, he still continued playing, which shows how strong and determined he is in order to do what he loves, which is really inspiring to me. It teaches us to never give up, no matter how tough things get. I guess it's true when they say, "You get what you give" He really did accomplish virtually everything a player could dream of! He's not just my hero, but he's really everyone's hero!

All in all, you could see how Magic was a hero. Though he is no longer playing on the court, everyone will always remember his success as a basketball player. From the moment he stepped on the court, people were simply amazed because of how well he played the point gaurd position and how much he got better every day. So, how could a man accomplish so many things with just a basketball? It was pure Magic!
