Dale EarnHardt Sr.

by David from Billings, Montana

Do you think you have what it takes to beat the man in black on the track? Dale Earnhardt was the man in black. He could drive a car around any track more than 180 MPH. That's intense. He's one of the most famous race car drivers there ever was. You may not know him by his name but I'm sure you have heard of one of his famous nicknames. Dale always said, "If you wanna win you're gonna have to beat me." Or he always said, "Hey it's just Racing."

Dale is my hero because he had such strength to race at that kind of speed. It takes a lot of talent to drive at high speeds on a sloped bank. Dale Currently lives in Heaven watching over his son on the race track. At least that's my theory. He was born on April 29, 1951 and died February 18, 2001 during the Daytona 500.

Dale made a difference in the racing world because he was what racing was all about. He raced hard and showed other people what racing really meant. Dale was not just a racer at home. He did all kinds of stuff, just like the average person. It's just when he got out onto the track he became the person in charge. Dale is mainly famous for being a 7 time Nascar Winston Cup Champion. He had many wins in his life.

Dale has personally inspired me because it takes real talent to race around a track that fast. You not only have to be in shape physically but also mentally. Your body takes all kinds of forces when you're sitting in that car. When your sitting in that car, everything just flies by. You need to be able to make decisions fast so you don't get into a crash and end up hurting yourself very badly. Metal is strong but when you race at that kind of speed, anything can bend or break. That's why Dale has inspired me.

As you can see Dale is quite the person. If I had the chance I would love to be able to learn how to drive from him. I would do that just so I could be like him. So in conclusion, Dale wasn't just a normal driver, Dale Earnhardt was a legend. So I ask you again, do you think you have what it takes to beat the Man In Black on the track?
