Thomas Alva Edison

by Alex from Woodland Hills

I never perfected an invention that I did not think about in terms of the service it might give others... I find out what the world needs, then I proceed to invent....

Thomas Alva Edison was not just a scientist/inventor, he was a hero. What makes Thomas Edison a hero, is his inventions, and how it made a dramatic effect on the world today. Edison would have a great legacy in his inventions.

To me Edison is a hero because he single handedly changed the world for the better. Some inventors had one that made an impact, but Edison had many. His inventions mad life easier for the everyday person, put a smile on a girls face, and made an impact on the movie industry.

Edison is a hero because of his invention the incandescent light bulb. With out the light bulb i wouldn't be able to have light when it's dark for more than thirteen hours. I wouldn't be able to read in the dark, or even go outside and play ball in my backyard. The light bulb is truely a marval, and goes down as one of the best inventions of all time.

Another reason I believe Edison was a hero was for his invention the carbon telephone trasmitter. Back in the day, people didn't have the clarity and range of the telephone without this. This made people communicate much easier. So basicaly you can say, that he made communication a lot easier. Now someone could talk to you in Texas and you could be in California, with clairty. This was a major thing back in Edison's time.

All in all Edison is a hero to millions of people around the world because of his inventions. He helped people have light, movies, and many other things. People also considered him a genius. He once said, "Genius is one per cent inspiration and ninety-nine per cent perspiration. Accordingly, a 'genius' is often merely a talented person who has done all of his or her homework."
