Chris Farley

I define a hero as someone who makes all those around them feel special -- someone who makes you feel like you are the only person in the world when they are talking to you. I feel that a hero is someone who has accomplished a lot during his or her life or is still accomplishing things now. That is why my hero is none other than the world's best comedian, Chris Farley.

Chris Farley is a big inspiration to me. He totally changed the way people look at the obese. As a child growing up, he lived in a family of jokers who joked about almost everything. His full name is Christopher Crosby Farley (imagine if his mom got mad) and he was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He lived with his Mom, Dad, three brothers, Tom, Kevin, and John, and his sister, Barbara. As a teen growing up, Farley was a riot; he made kids laugh at grade school and at summer camp he was one of the best counselors. He majored in acting. When he soon grew up he moved away to New York.

After giving side aches to half of Wisconsin, Farley started a career as a character on SNL (Saturday Night Live). He soon became a fan favorite as the insecure host of his own skit on SNL, "The Chris Farley Show." He also had little parts in movies as the stars got to know him better. He made his movie debut in "Tommy Boy" where his character was befriended by David Spade. It became a box office smash. He went from statewide to nationwide fame in a couple of years. He then made another movie with Spade called "Black Sheep," which was also a hit at the box office. After that and several other small movie appearances, he went back to T.V.

Chris made several T.V. appearances. He was scheduled to be the voice of Shrek, which was soon taken by Mike Myers after Farley was pronounced dead on December 18, 1997 at the age of 33. His death was due to a drug overdose. He did manage to make one more movie before his untimely death called "Almost Heroes," otherwise now known as "Edwards and Hunt." His fans still remain loyal to him.

I feel that Chris accomplished a lot in his short life. Even though he is gone, he still makes us laugh. I will truly miss him. He made me believe that you don't have to be a thin supermodel to have a T.V. career and be famous and accomplish great things. This is my hero, Christopher Crosby Farley, comedian, actor, and a superstar!
