I think Filippo Brunelleschi was a renaissance man because he did a lot of things that helped the world see things differently. The definition of a renaissance man is the rebirth of the spirit to push the limits of literacy, art, science, and technology. Filippo Brunelleschi grew up in Florence. He did many things that people will remember today. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't be living in the houses/apartments we're living in today.

Filippo Brunelleschi was born in the 1470's he, was the second child of three boys. Filippo Brunelleschi grew up in Florence a city in Italy. Filippo was an engineer, a goldsmith, and, what most people know him as, an architect. When he was young he was a leader of a small group of young architects. When Filippo was young he had a friend named Donatello. When Donatello grew up he was a very famous artist.

When Filippo built the dome he used four million bricks (Brunelleschi architect for the Dome of Florence). When he was trying to build the roof it was hard for them to carry the bricks and the big bars to hold up the ceiling to the top of the building so he made the first model of the crane. This thing could carry heavy things like bricks to high heights, one could carry them up and down and the other took it side to side. The thing that made the cranes special is that you didn't have to reverse the oxen to make the crane go the other way, you could just flip a switch and it will go the other way. It took a lot less time than what they used to do.

Filippo Brunelleschi also built the Cappella Dei Pazzi. The Capella Dei Pazzi is located in Florence. It took three years to build. The Cappella Dei Pazzi was a church or religious building. (Brunelleschi architect for the Dome of Florence)

Filippo died on April 15, 1472. Filippo was very young when he died, he was sixty-nine years old. As long as the dome stays standing people will remember his art for many years more.
