Freddie Mercury

Farrokh Bulsara also known as 'Freddie Mercury" was the lead singer of a famous band called "Queen". He is my hero because he had an amazing voice. He was very well known for his theatrical live performances. He did anything he could to entertain his crowd. He was born on September 5th in Zanzibar, Tanzania 1946. He grew up in India then later moved to Britain. Before entering his music career he attended the Ealing College of Art.

He got a lot of criticism about his sexuality and him being a bisexual. Another reason he is my hero he sticks up for his beliefs. No matter how much criticism he would receive from the press, he would always be himself while in front of fans. Mercury thought that his sexual orientation had nothing to do with his music or performances so he didn't find it necessary to discuss it regularly. He tried his best not to let the public interfere with his musical talents. He found it best to talk about things off stage.

I believe he is a hero because he wasn't afraid to be himself. He took criticism and made it constructive. He showed people that their opinions did not matter. The only thing that matters was how he looked at himself. He shows people that you are beautiful in your own skin.

When Freddie joined Queen everything went uphill. I commend him for not giving up and keep going until he got what he wanted. He was one of the most innovative singers in the rock era. He wrote many great hits like: Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, We Will Rock You and Under Pressure. His miraculous voice was stunning to the public. Later on he was named one of Rolling Stone's "Top 100 singers of all time". That was a tremendous accomplishment.

Perfoming

He was always one up for the party and wanted to have fun 24/7. On November 23, 1991 Mercury released a statement "I wish to confirm I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. The day after Mercury released that statement he died tragically from AIDS in London. Mercury was only 45 years old. To this day he is still remembered for his bubbly outgoing personality.
