Frank Sinatra was a hero. He inspired people around the world with his music and acting. He helped the civil rights movement to get African Americans equal rights. And most importantly of all, he did it his way.
Frank Sinatra came from an Italian family, so that means he was discriminated against because of his heritage in those days. He was discriminated so much there was a rumor that he was allegedly connected to the mafia, which is false. Because of this, unlike most people at the time, he had very different views on civil rights. He had a best friend named Sammy Davis Jr., who was African American. Also, what inspired Frank to take up singing is he saw Bing Crosby sing and decided he wanted to be in show business.
The main reason Frank Sinatra was a hero is he stood up for the civil rights of African Americans and others. As you know from the previous paragraph, he grew up being discriminated as well and had a best friend who was African American, so those are the main factors on his view of civil rights. I remember reading that he once got a contract where he could have a friend come on stage with him and when he asked if it could be Sammy (Davis Jr) and they said no he tore up the contract and walked away.
My definition of a hero is "A hero is someone to look up to who does what they and you think is right, but not in a violent way.". Frank Sinatra fits that description because he stood up for the civil rights of African Americans and inspired people while doing it. As he said, "I've lived a life that's full, I've travelled each and every highway. But more, much more than this, I did it my way." Frank Sinatra
