DONATE

Faison B.

"Look at how far I have gotten, what I have achieved… I believe you can take that and do better, rely on it.”

Who is my hero? It all starts off as who inspires me and who has influenced me to be the way I am. My dad is my hero; he has always been my hero. From the minute I was born I always looked up to my dad to figure out what to do next in life. A fact about my dad is that he was the first person in his family to finish school and go to college. Let’s just say he has accomplished a lot by now. My definition of a hero is someone who believes on his or her own and doesn’t depend on a lot of others. They can help do the right thing, and has touched you in your life.

My dad being my hero is an important part of my life. He not only inspires or influences me but he guides me through so much. He helps me make sure I have more of a variety in life and to not depend on one thing. But, to keep many choices to pick from. The one thing I can always remember my dad saying is “Look at how far I have gotten, what I have achieved… I believe you can take that and do better, rely on it.” I look at my dad and I say everyday “I want to be just like you.” Every parent wants their children to achieve way more than they did. They want their children to have a goal and make it happen, and don’t give up. Having my dad there to guide me through life and through the path of success is amazing. There are kids out there that don’t know their dad, don't live with him or just don't get along with him. I’m thankful to have my dad be there for me.

In elementary school who was I? Looking back into the past I was a very intelligent, studious, little girl. I was in higher-level classes than others and as I think about it I was given loads and loads of awards for academic and pride. I was a role model for my younger sister who went to school with me and I volunteered in a lot of things. But, the new question is, how did I get there? My dad would always tell me if I did well in school there would be a consequence, a good consequence. When I get older I would have a career to work on and a family to take care of. He always told me that I wouldn’t have struggles to go through because I was a good person. When I hear good things it makes me want to do more, and I can experience more. So, hearing this from my dad has gotten me excited every time I think about it.

My hero's definition is unique, he is the man who has taken me this far in life, supported me through everything I did from sports to academics, to knowledge. This is the man who takes the name and wears it everyday, my hero. My inspiration, my guardian angel from heaven, but most of all my dad.
