Firefighter

My hero is firefighter. He is a brave man, who rescues people from car accidents,collapsed and burning buildings and other such situations. He also puts out the fires in the woods.
In Slovenia we have professional and voluntary fire brigade. Their functions are fire protection and rescue. Voluntary fire brigades also educates young people. From seven to eleven years are younger pioneers, from twelve to fourteen years are old pioneers and from fifteen years to eighteen years are youths. When firefighters reach sixty-three years, they become veterans. In the fire departments there is also training, like basic courses for firefighters, education of future and others activities.
I am a member of a volunteer fire department. There are members of my family: my father, mother and brother. We work in various activities, like working campaign, celebrations, Zagorje night and we participate in competitions between the fire departments in Zagorje. Our favourite member is Janez. He is an important man for our community. He was one of the presidents and he was also very hardworking person. All members are working hard to help people at different natural disasters.
In Slovenia, there are many volunteer fire brigades.This means, that humans have a big heart and we like to help others. This is especially true for the rural fire departments, which often means backbone of social life and neighbours assistance.
