The first plane hits and confusion strikes most. The cameras come out to capture the disaster, only to capture the second plane collide with the second building. At this time everyone freaks and people rush into the World Trade Center to help. This terrible day is known as 9/11. On this day a group of terrorists highjacked four plans. One was going to the White House but was stopped and one crashed into the Pentagon. Sadly the two heading for the World Trade Centers completed their task. Many people died this day. Also a lot of brave men became heroes sacrificing their lives for complete strangers. The 9/11 firefighters were fearless because they risked their lives, died saving strangers, and gave blood and sweat getting rid of the debris.
The firefighters in 9/11 saved many lives, but they also died trying. When the first plane hit, firemen were on scene right away. Everyone was thinking it was just an accident. The fireman rushed up the stairs no more than 15 minutes after the plans hit. They rushed to the impact floor to look for survivors.
As the second plan hits more fireman rush to help. The second hit lower which caused the building to fall sooner. With this in play many firemen ran in the second building as it began to fall. Smoke filled the streets of New York. The smoke finally cleared and down came the first building. As the second fell many brave men ran into the building to never be seen again.
Fireman, policemen, and many from the army came to help clean up. It took all of the men many months to clean up the debris from the terrible day. The men had to deal with the mental images of finding body parts and wedding rings. They also found many badges and helmets from the brave men that sacrificed their lives for many people.
These firefighters chose this job to save lives. Many of them from 9/11 hate the word hero. Most of them refuse to be called this because they think it is their duty to put their lives on the lines for complete strangers. “If I wanted to get rich, I would have become a lawyer. I wanted something I'd be able to live with for the rest of my life. This, I can live with” quote from Tony Benatatos.
