Emma Flaherty

My hero is someone who has made a difference in the lives of teachers and students at Pinehurst Elementary School.She is loving and caring and can make you smile like a crescent moon.

My mom is a person who is very considerate. Every Wednesday and Friday, she volunteers in my class by helping students with math, reading and spelling. Also, she assists the teachers by photo copying activities for the students to use. To provide the teachers a break at lunchtime, my mom takes my class to lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays. Believe it or not, she does all these tasks with a big smile on her face.

My mom is also very determined. She never gives up until she has completed a task . For example, this school year, she worked with another group of parents on the school directory. Every student's name and telephone number were placed in the directory. It was a great task, but she didn`t give up until the task was completed. When I have difficult schoolwork that takes a long time and needs my mother's help, she works with me until I understand it.

My mother has several admirable character traits. She is considerate and helpful. She encourages me to help other people and share.
