Father Richard McAlear (http://www.catholicvoiceoakland.org/.../calendar.htm) |
In 1960, a man by the name of Richard McAlear joined a religious order. This man is caring, independent, approachable, brave, faithful to God, giving, hopeful, and he has made a difference for others. He became ordained in 1970 as Father Richard McAlear. He studied in Rome, and in 1972, became involved in Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Then in 1976, he became part of the Ministry of Healing.
Fr. Richard McAlear has traveled all over the world, to places like Asia, South America, Canada, Australia, New Guinea, Guatemala, Italy, France, Portugal, and Scotland, to heal people. Many times, if you are open to this, you will be “slain in the spirit”. This means that you fall unconscious, while your spirit goes to be healed directly by God. As this procedure may sound painful, no pain is inflicted. That is, if someone catches you. When I met him on the night of Ash Wednesday, it was at a meeting. I had also witnessed the spirit slaying of my parent's friend, who shall not be named. He told many stories about healings that he did. One of his stories follows:
“As I was riding in the taxi, the driver exclaimed that he knew who I was. This driver had hearing aids in his ears, and wanted me to heal him. I had no idea what I was doing as I placed my hand on his forehead, and blessed him. Apparently, he went to bed with a terrible headache, and the next day, his wife took him to the hospital. When asked what was wrong, the doctor laughed and said that he didn’t need the hearing aids any longer. On the day of my departure from the city, this same driver picked me up and drove me to the airport. On the way, he thanked me for healing him.”
Father has done many healings, and has seen many spirit slayings. He has also healed millions of people, and has traveled all over the world. Many people don’t believe that what he does is real, while others are completely amazed by this, and still others, like me, believe that it’s just another beautiful work of God. Father Richard McAlear is a very important person in the Catholic community, and I hope you will have the chance to meet him someday.
