Anne Frank was a Jewish girl born June 12th, 1929. She lived in the time of the Holocaust. This was a time when Jews were not allowed to be on the streets between 8:00 p.m and 6:00a.m.. They were not allowed to go to theaters, movies or participate in any type of entertainment. They were also not allowed to use athletic fields, visit Christians and could only attend Jewish schools.
When the laws became more serious and Jews were being sent to concentration camps, the Frank family decided to go into hiding. In hiding Anne recorded many of her moments in a diary she received for her 13th birthday. After 2 years the Franks and 4 others in hiding were found and sent to concentration camps. The diary was left behind in the office where the 8 people were hiding. When a woman named Miep Gies found the diary she hoped to return it to Anne. She then found out Anne had died at a concentration camp of a terrible disease called Typhus fever. Today her diary is a published book that has been translated into over 60 languages!
