Garrett Beall

by Paige from Loveland

Well, just think that my little brother was in daycare and he got two hernias, one on each hip. We had to rush him to the hospital to get them handled. They gave him Verset to numb him so he wouldn't feel it. They overdosed him and he turned blue and quit breathing instantly. He was in a coma stage for 42 hours. He was only  about 1 at this time so he couldn't talk he could only nod. My brother showed a lot of heroic qualities through out his time being sick.

After Garrett woke up from the coma stage we asked my little brother if he was scared and he nodded yes but still  showed lots of  bravery.  The doctors asked him if he wanted some of the other medications and he always nodded yes and not no. We could see on his face a lot of times that he was getting scared. After we found the hernias at daycare my mom rushed him to the hospital. You could tell he was really scared. The hernias put him in a lot of pain but he fought through the pain, so, that he was going to get better.

My family's schedule was very busy, so, Garrett had to sacrifice some things to fit the schedule. We were really trying to get Garrett better, but, he never really got to have friends over or play by himself, because he did whatever worked for the rest of the family. My little brother decided to not do sports because he wanted to get better faster. That was a really hard decision for him but he sacrificed something for his health. One time my mom told Garrett that he couldn't have a birthday party with his friends because he wasn't feeling well enough and he didn't want to get them sick, so, he only got to have family over.

Garrett didn't  know he was going to get better some of the times but he stayed determined and kept fighting. He had to go through a lot of recovery stages but he was determined to get better. The times that the doctor told him he would be ok, he wasn't really sure and was determined to do what the doctor told him to do, to get better. A lot of summer mornings my mom would have to get him up early to take medicine or to go to a doctor's appointment.

Throughout the time Garrett was sick he showed a lot of Bravery at the hospital, he had to Sacrifice some things for the family, and he was very Determined that he was going to get better. I am so glad my little brother and parents made these decisions. Words can't even explain how much I Love that little guy and how happy I am he is still alive and that God did take him when he had the chance to.
