My hero George Beurling was a Canadian hero because he helped win World War 2. He was military hero. One time he shot down 27 planes in 14 days when he was in his own. He was very funny and had two nicknames; ''Buzz'' and ''Screwball''. He was born on December 6th 1921. He died in combat on May 20th 1948 Rome, Italy. He was very important in World War 2.
George Beurling was born in Verdun, now a part of Montreal. Beurling took his first flight in 1933. He left school to work for an airfreight company in Gravenhurst, Ontario. He soon gained a commercial license. He intended to go to China, but was imprisoned for a few months for illegally crossing the border into the United States in attempt to join the Flying Tigers. He crossed the border in illegally to help win World War 2. George Buerling's plane was called the ''Falcon of Malta.'' He first flew solo in1938. His most serious crash in his Spitfire ended up in the hospital. George Beurling's career in the military was from 1940 to 1944. He was 26 when he died.
George Beurlng was a flight lieutenant when he died. He achieved the Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Flying Cross and the Distinguished Flying Medal and Bar Award. He was recognized as Canada's most successful fighter pilot. He flew the plane the ''Falcon of Malta''. He accomplished a lot in his life.
George Beurling served his country for almost the whole World War 2. He died when his plane was shot down, he survived the crash and went to hospital. He did not survive. After his death in World War 2 his country still succeed to win World War 2.
