Was born in Acre in 1936, and lived in Jaffa and was forced them to flee as thousands of Palestinians were displaced after the catastrophe 1948 under pressure from the Israeli occupation. He resided with his family for a short period in southern Lebanon, and then moved the family to Damascus. Kanafani worked since his early youth in the national struggle, and began his career milestone of Professional Education in schools and Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in Damascus, then moved to Kuwait in 1965 where he worked as a teacher of drawing and sport in schools official. He was, in the meantime working in the press, also began producing literature in the same period.
In Beirut in 1960, he worked as a literary editor of the newspaper "Freedom" weekly, and then in 1963 became head of the Liberation newspaper "Reporter", also worked in the "Lights" and "accidents." Even in 1969 when the foundations of the newspaper "objective" weekly, he remained president until the liberation. His death was July 8, 1972.
Kanafani represents a model for special political writers, novelists and critic. He was as creative in his writings as he was creative in their lives, their struggle and martyrdom. He won the prize in 1966 ((Friends of the book in Lebanon)) for the best novel for his novel "What is left to you," as the Organization of Journalists received the Award Global (IOJ) in 1974 won a prize ((Lotus)) granted by the Federation of Asian and African writers in 1975 and others.
