My Hero
Have you ever heard of George Muller? If you have heard about him you would have heard about how many orphans he saved off of the streets of London. George Muller did amazing things in his young life, and with the orphans he saved. He was an amazing man, and accomplished great things for other children during his life.

When George Muller was a young man he was very reckless. He drank, gambled, lied, stole, and had a reputation for being a womanizer. Once he was even thrown in jail because he wasn't able to pay his debts. His father did not bail him out right away, because he wanted to try and teach George a lesson. A few months later his father bailed him out hoping the experience had changed him. Unfortunately, it hadn't and he went back to his reckless routine. However, Muller did decide to go the University of Halle to study divinity (the study of religion or theology). While he was there he met someone who invited him to a Christian prayer meeting, and it was then that George Muller became a Christian.

Once George became a Christian his life changed dramatically. He was no longer the reckless man that people had known him as. He then preached in many churches telling people about God. While George was doing this he got a burden, or felt a need to show people about God's faithfulness. He decided to show God's faithfulness through an orphanage. The first thing he did was buy a building. Then he asked the people in church for anything they didn't use any more. All they had to do now was get some orphans. After George Muller's first orphan they decided to rely on God for their food, clothing, blankets, and money. God provided everything that they needed, including orphan homes. Muller's orphan homes took up 3,000 acres of land. God provided food and clothing through other people's giving. George Muller accomplished many great things for the orphans he rescued from a life of hardship and turmoil. George Muller had taught his orphans a trade so they could be successful adults once they left his orphanage. George Muller had taken street kids and made them higher-class citizens with the help of his savior, Jesus Christ.

George Muller died on March 10, 1898 at 92 years old. He died from old age on a couch. Almost everyone in London attended his funeral, because they admired his love for God, and all the orphans he saved off the streets. They even had a parade in his honor. Today one of his buildings is set aside as a memorial for him and what he had done for those special orphans.
In conclusion George Muller was a great hero because of his faith in God, and his love for orphans. His death did not make him famous, but it helped people to realize what he did and how much he helped orphans. His death was very sad, because the leader of the George Muller's Homes was gone. People can benefit from what he did, by knowing that you can do anything when you have God on your side. George Muller is my hero because of his faith in God and because of his love for orphans. I hope someday I can help other people, and show God's love.
