Patton in full military uniform (www.geocities.com) |
George S. Patton was one of the many leaders to turn the tide of World War II. In fact if it wasn’t for Patton and his contributions to the war efforts, the last battle of World War II would have ended disastrously. When Patton was little, he told his father that if he couldn’t become a hero, there was no point in living. General George S. Patton is my hero because he was a dedicated, focused, and courageous individual.
George Patton always put himself last and his men first. He gave his all to his armies. He believed that they could conquer anything and amount to everything. He was dedicated to his men and his career that he loved so much. There was nothing that made Patton change his mind about his career.
Another heroic quality of General Patton was that he was very focused. His mind never wandered in the heat of battle. He always got the job done and it was done right. He focused on his men and was very disciplined. These qualities were passed on to his men in such a way that they hardly flinched during a battle. He directed all his energy toward fighting and winning The Battle of the Bulge, and many other battles before that.
George Patton also showed great courage and valor. When Patton went into battle, he was not scared. He was selfless and would sacrifice whatever he had for the sake of the greater good. He was a hard man and would not tolerate anything but doing his best for the cause. He pushed his men and yelled at them if they couldn’t find the courage to fight. He was a courageous general who never backed down from a mission. George Patton welcomed danger with open arms. In one of his many famous quotes he states, “Courage is fear holding on a minute longer.”
George S. Patton is my hero because he led his men into history, fame, and victory. He was loyal and cared for his men. He was a dedicated, focused, and courageous leader. He should be considered a hero simply because World War II ended much more victoriously than it would have if he would not have been a part of it.
