George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Virginia and died on December 14, 1799. When George was a kid, he had 2 brothers, Lawrence and Augustine Jr. His father, Augustine Sr. owned a farm that George inherited. Before George was in the army, he was a surveyor and a farmer. His war career started in the French and Indian War.

George Washington started fighting in the Revolution in 1775. The first battle he fought in was at Boston, in 1776. Washington had several government positions in addition to his battlefield career. Those positions were: member of the Virginia House of Burgesses, member of the Continental Congress, and Chairman of the Constitutional Convention.

In his life, Washington suffered from malaria (twice), smallpox, tuberculosis dysentery and pneumonia. Although he had so many diseases, they didn’t stop him from working hard. He was the only unanimously elected president in history. He served two terms as president and when he was offered a 3rd term, he backed out and felt two terms was enough. No other president served two terms until 1940.

I think George Washington was a hero because when he was fighting the British, he showed bravery, courage, and skill. When he accepted his presidency he said, “It’s not generosity, it's duty.” That shows that he is loyal to America. These are reasons that Washington is a hero.
