Welterweight Champion of UFC, Georges St-Pierre |
My definition of a HERO is someone who can inspire people to follow in their footsteps. A hero doesn't have to be a superhero who has super powers to save the day. A hero can just be an ordinary person who influences a person and the world. Heroes inspire and create hope for others by what they did to impress the world, what they achieved and who they helped.
Georges "Rush" St-Pierre, a French-Canadian, was born on May 19, 1981. He was born in Saint-Isidore, Quebec. He's a professional mixed martial artist from Canada. Right now, St-Pierre is the Welterweight Champion of UFC. He is also referred to as "GSP". Right now, he is fighting out of Montreal, Quebec.
GSP's childhood was difficult, he was attending a school where his clothes and money would get stolen. Georges started learning Kyokushin karate at the age of seven to defend himself from bullies. After his karate teacher died, he took up wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The person who influenced Georges was Royce Gracie. Ever since St-Pierre saw him fight in 1993, he has dreamed of becoming a UFC champion.
St-Pierre won his first amateur fight when he was 16. This is a quote from him, "When I won my first amateur fight, I was 16 and I beat a guy that was 25 years old. I was only a Kyokushin Karate fighter and the guy I fought was a boxer. At the time my ground skills were really poor, I didn't know anything on the ground." St-Pierre beat his opponent with a knockout. St-Pierre had to face many hard challengers when he was only an amateur, and he overcame them without giving up. My hero inspires me because I want to never give up like him, always getting up when down and achieve like he has.

In other words, Georges St-Pierre is definitely a definition of a hero. He inspired me and I can follow in his footsteps. "There is a hero in all of us." Yes, I believe this quote, because everyone has a path to follow.
