Dirk C. Gibson (http://www.unm.edu/ ~cjdept/department/ faculty.html#GIBSON) |
A hero is someone who is brave, nice, polite, and intelligent. A hero is a person who goes out of the way to do the right thing. My hero is my dad, Dirk. C. Gibson. He is my hero because he survived cancer and is still healthy and alive today. He not only survived cancer but he wrote a book while he had cancer. Here is the story of my hero:
My hero was born in Indiana and lived there too. He had 2 brothers and a sister, a mom and a dad. He was a nice person and wanted to grow up to be a debater and work on law. Throughout high school and college he had good grades and never got in trouble. When growing up, he never knew that he would be someone’s hero.
Over the years, my hero has done many great things. He has written over 4 books that have been published throughout his life. He just recently wrote a book. As a result of the book, my hero got a lot of publicity. Even though all of this stuff that he did is nice, this is not why he is my hero.
He not only wrote a book and published it; he wrote it and published while he had cancer. My hero could have died from cancer but he didn’t, he just kept on going on and on and on. Even though he had cancer he did not just quit, he moved on and accomplished great things. This is why he is my hero.
Everyone has a hero. A hero needs to be brave, strong, heroic and good to the community. My dad is my hero because he survived cancer. Everyone has a hero; who is yours?
