Giles T. Forsythe

by Ashley

Giles was named for his grandfather, who was a remarkable temple worker on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Giles began life fighting. He was born prematurely, and the doctors told his parents, that Giles wouldn’t grow much, and would have many complications in life. With that challenge, Giles began his fight for life. He is the second eldest child, with a brother named Andrew just above him, and a younger brother, Palani, and sister, Emily, below him. His early years were spent living on the North Shore of O`ahu. He grew up by modest means, coming from a very humbled childhood. His father works as a corrections officer and his mother remained at home to care for Giles and his siblings.

Giles lived a portion of his life in Kaneohe, a town on the East Side of the island of O`ahu, in Hawaii. During this portion of his life, he was able to experience a lot. He played little league, and football. He had his first dance, which he would describe as a scary experience. He was also baptized as a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and received the Aaronic Priesthood.

During the summer of 2001, the his family moved to Waianae. Giles continued his schooling at Waianae Intermediate, where he was involved in football, and band. He played linebacker for the Waianae Tigers, and the trombone for band. During these years, he made many friends, made many mistakes, and grew out of his boyhood.

He went on to Waianae High School, and in his freshman year played JV Football for the Seariders, as a linebacker. In his sophomore year, Giles played football for a month before quitting the team for personal reasons. He spent the rest of his sophomore year catching up on his surfing, which quickly became a big part of his life.

He joined the high school band, playing the trombone, and the Japanese club. He also joined the Air Riflery team, and shot a season high of 227 of 300. He started a surf club, in which he only participated in for a brief time, before got sick in October of 2005.

His doctors kept him out of school until April 2006. He came back fighting strong, and ecstatic to be back in school. Giles continues on with his aspirations for a surf club, and has re-joined the band. He still surfs, and has found two news loves in his life; World of Warcraft (WOW), and pastry.

Although his rough beginnings nearly jeopardized Giles growth in this world, he is the largest Forsythe child, in height and in stature. His illnesses as a very young child and as a teenager only enabled him to grow up to be a better person, and truly enjoy life.

His future plans include going on a mission on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and then go to college to be an Archaeologist, or a something in the computer field. He plans on getting married, and his first son will be named Giles, to keep up the family tradition.
