“Can’t, never, could,” my grandma would tell me every time I said, “I can’t” or “I refuse”. Glenda Gail Gregory says the most important things in life are her family. Glenda’s life isn’t full of regrets but full mostly of life. Growing up, her older brother took care of her and her sisters. He did most of the work outside and the girls took care of inside the house. Her own hero was John Wayne, but in her teenage years her hero started to become her brother. She volunteered and worked with disabled people and elderly people. She admits that one of the greatest things she has done is worked with special people.

She had three goals in life and one was to finish high school (which she later did). Two was to get married to a wonderful man. The third one was have the greatest children she could ever ask for. She completed all of the things she ever wanted. She put her mind to it and achieved it.

I chose her as my hero because she is an exceptional lady. She lives in Hillsville, close to her family, and no matter what kind of mistakes she makes, she always pulls through and makes the second go-around a lot better. Another reason why I chose her as my hero is that she will flat out tell you that she considers herself as a leader because she does what needs to be done, when it is supposed to be done. She has made an enormous difference in my life because of the way she believes in herself. It makes me feel like there is hope. I have never really had any faith in anything, but she always tells me that there are two sides to everything; you’ve just got to give it time.
