Seven out of ten people do not know who Hazel Barton is. Do you? Hazel Barton is my hero because she has done some magnificent research and has changed our lives forever. Hazel has an amazing past and she has done some pretty spectacular things. This wonderful scientist is also my hero because she displays actions and characteristics of a hero. The last reason this intelligent women is my hero is because of the ways she inspires me and how she has made a difference in my life. Hazel Barton is my hero because she has such a heart for science and will do amazing and horrifying things just to help us.

One of the three reasons Hazel is my hero is because she has such an amazing factual life. Did you know that Hazel Barton was born in Bristol, England but moved to the United States to continue her research about how microbes survive in cave environments? She has done research on five different continents! Another example of how her biographical life made her my hero is, she goes into caves and does research about how microbes survive but she is claustrophobic. So she has had times when she struggled being in such a small and closed in environment. “I actually thought I was claustrophobic and I thought going caving would help me get over it.” Says Hazel. Another example of this is, she was on TV twice. First she was on the CBS Early Show as a “Koeghan Hero” featured by Phil Koeghan. The second show she was on was Animal Planet’s The Real Lost World where she told about bacteria that survives in caves. Not only was she on two TV shows but she was also in an IMAX film called “Amazing Caves”. The last example of this is, at only 33 years old, Hazel is a professor of integrated science and assistant professor of biology at Northern Kentucky University. How did she get this far? Well she earned a PhD in classical medical microbiology at the University of Colorado Health Services Center. Also she has had much experience caving and finding things about microbes in caves. That is why one of the reasons Hazel Barton is my hero is because of her just amazing factual life.

Did you know that this successful scientist is also my hero because of her adventurous and heroic actions and characteristics? For example, Hazel teaches her students about microbes. These lessons are not just lectures and note taking though. She takes her students into amazing caves in absolutely unbelievable places to give them a hands on learning experience. Another example of this is, she is studying in caves to find cures for antibiotic resistance disease, and if she does then the world will be much healthier. It is just amazing how some of the worlds only undiscovered places are caves. Hazel is finding things in caves that can make very strong antibiotics. That is why Hazel is on a mission to find cures for diseases. A final example this is, researching microbes to also prevent them from being carried to other planets, by sticking onto rockets and space shuttles. Some of these planets are Mars or Europa, she is doing this to prevent them from contaminating these places. By doing this she gets to work with NASA to try to find more information about life on these planets. That is why Hazel Barton’s actions are a part of why she is my hero.

The third reason why Hazel is my hero is the things that she does that inspire me and she made a difference in my life. Hazel is a professor or a teacher at a college and I want to be a teacher or an educator just like she is. She made a difference in my life because how she kept caving even though she was claustrophobic and struggled but she was successful. So I know that anything is possible if I put my mind to it. A final example of how she inspired me is she publishes her work in books as an author but also as an actress in movies about her work and I just think it is wonderful how you can do those amazing things but still be doing your studies. That is why I want to write things and work just how she does. That is how Hazel Barton has inspired me and made a difference in my life by her studies and how successful her career was.

That is why Hazel Barton is my science hero and she is because of all her success in her career. That is why I just feel that she is a scientist that really inspires me. Dr. Hazel Barton has such an interesting biographical life. She displays actions and characteristics of a hero, and how she inspired me and affected my life. Now you can see why I think Hazel Barton is one of the best female scientists that is attempting to change our world.
