It is a picture of Henry Ford (http://www.biography.com/people/henry-ford-9298747 ()) |
Henry Ford was an adventurous boy. When his brothers and sisters got new toys they had to guard them from Henry because he would take them apart. Most of the time he would put them back together. Henry Ford is a Renaissance person because he pushed the limits of science and technology.
Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 near Dearborn, Michigan only 8 miles from Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest of eight children of William and Mary Ford. His mother, Mary Ford, died when he was only 12 years old. When he was young he liked to go around and help people fix wagons and machinery like the the steam engine. At the age of sixteen he became a machinist, and then later on he became a engineer at a Detroit Electoral Company.

After three years he came in contact with the internal-combustion engine for the first time. Later he moved back to the farm and created a farm locomotive, a tractor that used an old mowing machine for its chassis and a homemade steam engine for power (Henry Ford). Nine years later he moved back to Detroit, Michigan as a married man. He married Clara Bryant. They were married in 1888. Then on November 6, 1893, she gave birth to their only child, Edsel Bryant.
A month later Ford was made Chief Engineer in Detroit Edison Company plant with responsibility all around the clock. In his spare time he was trying to make a a gasoline engine. He made his first gasoline engine in 1893. Over the next 3 years he was trying to make the first horseless buggy but in 1893 he finally made it and called it a Quadricycle because the chassis of the four-horsepower vehicle was a buggy frame placed on four bicycle wheels (Henry Ford). Later on he created the model T. It was the cheapest car and the easiest automobile to make because it was built on an assembly line.
The reason I think Henry ford is a Renaissance person because he made it easier and cheaper to travel because of the invention of the car. He was able to make cars cheaper because of the assembly line made it easier and faster to make. You still see what Henry Ford did because you see cars and trucks and the Ford Motor Company and Lincoln and Mercury car company that are all made by Ford. That is why I think Henry Ford is a Renaissance person.
