Helen keller |
Did you know Helen Keller was deaf and blind, and was still able to communicate? Did you know she died 26 days before her 89th birthday? Her background is what molded her into a hero today. Her positive qualities are what help kept her going to be a hero. Helen's obstacles didn't get in her way from becoming a hero all of her achievements before she died are what made her a hero. Her started it all.
Helen's got an amazing background with important dates, family information, and her educational history. Some important dates are when she was only 19 months old she had an illness called congestion of the stomach and brain. Helen lost her hearing and sight by the time she was 2. Helen was the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of the arts degree. Sadly, she had a series of strokes in 1960. September 14, 1964, she was awarded with the Presidential Award of Freedom by President Lyndon B. Johnson. A year later she was elected in the Woman's Hall of Fame.
Helen had an interesting family and educational background, too. Helen's father was Captain Arthur Keller. he was 42 years old when he married Helen's mother, Kate Keller. She was his second wife. From his first marriage he had two sons, so Helen had two half brothers. Helen went to many different schools because she was blind and deaf. Anne Sullivan was Helen's first teacher when she was 6. Anne helped Helen though school. Anne also helped her when she wasn't in school. Helen gradated from Radcliffe College.
Helen had some obstacles in her life. Those obstacles help from her qualities. Some of the obstacles she faced was not being able to see or hear. Whenever her mom called she wouldn't be able to hear. One time when Helen was little, she learned what a key was for. She ended up locking her mom in a closet. This is an obstacle because she could hear her mom screaming. Her mom could have suffocated. Some of her qualities are she is strong, thoughtful, and helpful. One of her helpful things is she wanted to help people who are blind. She wanted blind people to be able to live naturally and be treated as human beings. She is strong because only a strong person could have handled being deaf-blind and still be able to communicate. She is thoughtful because she raised money for the blind and only thoughtful people would have done that.
Her accomplishments help a lot of people. She helped raised money for the blind, which raises awareness. She was a world-famous speaker that inspired a lot of people. She might have inspired other people to do great things. To show what a great job she was doing, she won an Oscar for one of her documentaries. It's important that she got one of these because it shows she is doing a good job. If she didn't know that she was doing a great job, she might not have kept doing all the things she did. Helen is a hero to me because she did a lot of things for a lot of people. She inspires me to do good things in the world. She's a hero to me because she did a lot of things while she was blind-deaf and that didn't stop her. Helen Keller is an inspiring person.
Anne Sullivan once said in one of her letters, "My heart is singing for joy this morning. A miracle has happened! The wild little creature of two weeks ago has been transformed into a gentle child." This illustrates that she was strong. Helen is a very heroic person. Learning to communicate by the time she was 7, Helen went through a lot in her childhood. Helen's strong and thoughtful qualities and obstacles helped her become a hero. Her greatest achievements, learning to communicate even though she was blind-deaf, are what made her a hero. Helen Keller is my hero because even though she couldn't hear or see, she didn't let that stop her from living a normal life.
