Considered the best animator in the film industry, Hayao Miyazaki has been applauded for his fabulous animated movies. Around the world, people applaud the Japanese animator's work. In the opinion of Pixar's John Lasseter, "Miyazaki is 'the world's greatest living animator'. According to the numbers, he is Japan's most successful filmmaker, with his 2001 fable Spirited Away breaking the domestic box-office record set by Titanic."(Xan). People such as John Lasseter (the creator of Bugs Life, and the Toy Story series) have been saying these general comments about Miyazaki as well. To many people, Miyazaki makes inspirational movies that have inspired many people over the world; I am also one of those people who believe that Miyazaki is a hero. Having been born in Tokyo on January 5th, 1941, Hayao Miyazaki and his family were extremely involved in World War II. Since Miyazaki was born during World War II, his family, particularly his father, was very involved in the war. His father was an engineer who worked on fighter plane. Miyazaki was fascinated by the planes, and enjoyed sketching them. Also during this time, manga (manga is a type of Japanese comic art) had become quite popular; Miyazaki began to create his own manga style. This started his love for drawing manga. When Miyazaki was in high school he saw the movie, The White Serpent. Feeling inspired by this movie, Miyazaki decided to become an animator; He started his career in "1963 as an animator at the studio Toei Douga...then moved to Tokyo Movie Shinsha in 1979 to direct his first movie, the classic Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro."(Brooks)

Heroes can posses many qualities. They can be honest, reliable, selfless, kind, and determined. Miyazaki is very inspirational, and persevering. Hayao Miyazaki is a hero to me for many reasons. He persevered by following his dreams throughout his entire life, which is admirable. He has also inspired famous people such as John Lasseter. Not many people have the energy and courage to follow their dreams, and not many people are successful in the end. This is why I admire Miyazaki. Not only did he follow his dreams, but also he was determined and worked so hard that he successfully lived out his dream. Hayao Miyazaki is now considered the best animator in the world. Miyazaki's films are filled with morals that teach people the lessons, such as the fact that you should follow your dreams and never giving up. Miyazaki's "films are filled with morals, and serious messages. He sets them to have morals about courage, creativity, true strength, and remaining strong in troublesome times"(Morrison). Each film in Miyazaki's films hides a moral in the story some of the morals are teaching the audience about courage and perseverance that the character learns throughout the movie. These morals are often caught by many of the viewers. These lessons are the kind that Miyazaki must have learned as he was progressing in his career. Miyazaki has worked hard to become the man he is today. He went from one studio to another, honing his skills in order to become the great animator he has become today.
Miyazaki has worked hard to become the man he is today. His films have been so great that "...many of Miyazaki's films, although made for and enjoyed by children, have matched narrative complexity with intricate visual detail. Howl's Moving Castle was nominated for the 2006 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature,"(Littleton High). As a result of his hard work, Miyazaki's films are so great that they are worthy enough to gain an Oscar. This shows that if you follow your dreams, you can become a great person. Miyazaki has inspired not only his audiences, but other famous people as well. Some of which are other famous animators, and even some game makers. "John Lasseter, director of Pixar's A Bug's Life and the Toy Story series, calls the works of Miyazaki 'the most inspirational films' for him."(The Hayao Miyazaki Web). Not only does John Lasseter believe that Miyazaki is an inspiration, many other people such as Hendel Butoy, Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have also considered Miyazaki to inspire them to do their careers. Like Miyazaki, John Lasseter is considered a great animator; he has made movies such as Bug's Life and the Toy Story series. This quote shows how much dedication John has for Miyazaki, and how inspiring he personally believes Miyazaki is. John has also commented that when he had a tough time finding ideas for his film, he would watch one of Miyazaki's films, which would allow him to feel inspired and find better ideas.
John Lasseter is only one person Miyazaki has inspired. He has also inspired other animators such as Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante (the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and The Legend of Korra series) as well. "Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have said Miyazaki's work greatly influenced the show and its style. He has influenced, and inspired people all over the world."(The Hayao Miyazaki Web). Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are the creators of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series, which became a very popular show as it progressed. Bryan and Michael state how Miyazaki's films influenced them to create this show. With the help of Miyazaki's influence, and their creative idea's, these animators were able to create on of the most popular animated shows in the U.S. This quote not only states the opinions of Bryan and Michael, but says something else about Miyazaki as well. The quote states that Miyazaki has "influenced and inspired people all around the world" This quote completely proves that Miyazaki has inspired other people around the world, not just in Japan. Miyazaki is not only considered the best animator, but many people consider him an inspiration. These quote are able to prove just how inspirational people believe Miyazaki is. Many people can be considered heroes for different reasons. They could've done something that changed the world, or they could've acted as the perfect role model for kids. Miyazaki is a hero to me because he inspired me, as well as other people around the world. Miyazaki has the skill and ability to create worlds that no one has thought before.
Miyazaki inspires me through his movies. When I was a kid, I would always watch Miyazaki's movies, and they would always help me think of story ideas. Because of Miyazaki, I was inspired to become a writer. His movies were the inspiration of the stories that I now hold in my mind; I owe it all to Miyazaki. Some heroes are known to be activists and environmentalists, but Hayao Miyazaki is my hero because of his hard work, and influence in my dream to write. Hayao Miyazaki is an example of rigorous hard work, and how it can pay off later in life, inspiring others for the better.
