"And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure."

Before Harry was an international success he was a simple character in the mind of J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter is as well known in the world of "muggles" as he is in the wizarding world. Aside from taking fans of this series on a magnificent ride through Harry's life, fans are also able to learn valuable life lessons through the characters.

Harry Potter is: attentive, caring, brave, courageous, loyal, humble and selfless. The above listed characteristics are all crucial to successful leadership. Harry inspired his followers through his passion for a common cause, saving the wizarding world from the dark lord, Voldemort.

Harry is also a story of the underdog, which is extremely likable among audiences. Harry and his friends had all odds working against them. This uphill battle began for Harry at a young age with the death of his parents. Harry would later learn that his parents sacrificed themselves to save him from Lord Voldemort. Harry is extremely famous in the wizarding world due to him being "the boy who lived," and the only known survivor against the dark lord; however, he never let this fame define him. Due to Harry's life circumstances he learned that he must cherish those that love him, hence his caring of his friends and dedication to them. Moreover, in the final battle against Voldemort Harry was willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Harry served a purpose for his world, and ultimately beat the odds for his followers.

Harry Potter's admirable qualities allow him to be the epitome of hero. Stephen King said it best, "Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend." For me, Harry Potter is a hero that is applicable to all people.
