CHILDHOOD YEARS-

Harriet Tubman was born a slave so there is not an exact date when she was born. She was born on a plantation in Dorchester Country, Maryland. Born as Araminta often called Minty. She was sent away to another plantation at the age of 5. She became too sick to work anymore and was sent back. Once she recovered she was loaned to an other plantation. By the age of 12 she was plowing and hauling wood. At 13, while defending a slave that tried to run away, she got hit in the head with a two pound weight.

MARRIAGE-

Harriet married John Tubman. She told him about her dreams about being free. He told her she would never be free, and if she tried to run away he would turn her in. That was rude because she ended telling him wrong. She ended up saving a lot of non-freed slaves.

Harriet is my hero because she saved many people for being cruelly treated. She taught me how to be brave and how to help other people. Thank you Harriet Tubman, you are my hero.
