Hines Ward was born March 8, 1976. He was born in Forest Park, Georgia. His mom is Korean. Her name is Kim Young. His dad is African American and his name is Hines Ward Sr. Hines Ward had a hard childhood. People picked on him in South Korea. His mom worked three jobs to take care of him when he was little. The court gave him to his dad because his mom didn’t speak English. He was moved around from relative to relative. As a teen he lived with his mother but gave her a hard time so he went back to his dad. His dad was mean and stern. Eventually Hines learned to appreciate all his mom’s hard work and what she gave up for him.

Hines Ward is my favorite hero because he is going to the Super Bowl and he is one of the best hitters as a wide receiver. The Pittsburgh Steelers is my favorite football team. Hines Ward gave a 1 million dollar pledge toward starting a foundation to help mixed race children like himself in South Korea, where they have suffered discrimination.

Hines Ward is my hero because he helps children. Ward is one of the best wide receivers because he gives players on the other team hard hits and he runs fast. The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to win the Super Bowl this year! Hines Ward was the Steelers M.V.P. in the Super Bowl several years ago. Now he will be playing again!
