“Me quit? Never!” Bethany Hamilton said this quote after she got her arm bit off by a fourteen foot tiger shark. This happened on October 31st, 2003. Bethany Hamilton started surfing at age 11. It only took her two years to be an accomplished surfer. Her dream was to be a professional surfer. Even though her arm got bit off, she never gave up her dream. Bethany Hamilton is not only a hero to surfers, but to all people because she is brave, strong, and determined.

Bethany Hamilton shows that she is brave because she kept on with her dream even though she could get into another accident. Especially since it would be harder for her because of her one arm. If she gets into another accident she might not be able to surf ever again. But she is willing to take her chance.

Bethany Hamilton is also super strong. She is strong because surfing is a hard thing to do. In surfing you have to have a good balance. When most people need to balance themselves, they spread their arms out. Bethany can’t do that because she only has one arm. So she mostly has to use her legs which would give her a hard time. Another reason why she is strong is because in surfing you have to paddle to get to the wave you want. Paddling is hard especially for her one arm.

Bethany Hamilton has a book that got published on October, 5, 2004. Now she started a movie that started to film in 2005.

Bethany Hamilton is an inspiration to surfers and others because she has bravery, strength, and determination. Bethany Hamilton is my hero because if my arm got bit off by a shark then I would have quit. She taught me to never give up my dream.
