At age 15, Mia became the youngest player on the National team. In college Hamm took her team to four NCAA Women's Championships. Mia won the Olympic gold at the Athens olympics and was put on FIFA's list of the 125 greatest living soccer players in 2004. She was named player of the year and female athlete of the year. At age 19 she was the youngest player to play in the World Cup. In 1994 she founded the Mia Hamm Foundation, which supports research into Bone Morrow Disease. Mia has overcome many hardships. For instance, because her dad was an air force pilot, the family had to move all over the place. Her brother died from Bone Morrow disease. Some of Mia's major accomplishments were she was named player of the year in both 2001 and 2002. Another major accomplishment was that she became professional at age 15.

Mia Hamm demonstrated heroism when she was the youngest soccer player ever to play on the national team. She was elected soccer U.S.A.'s female athlete of the year five years in a row. Another hero moment was when she was named MVP of the World Cup in 1995.

Mia Hamm has very many athletic skills. This shows when she won a gold at the Olympics, and has gotten many MVP awards. Mia is also good-natured. This showed when she founded the Mia Hamm foundation supporting people with bone marrow disease.

Mia Hamm is currently married to professional baseball player Nomar Garciaparra. After helping her team win the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics, Mia retired to start a family. We feel that, since Mia Hamm is such a great athlete and has won so many rewards, that it means that anybody can be really great at anything they put their mind to.
