John Hancock

by Reece from Laguna Beach

My hero is John Hancock. He was born January 12, 1737 and died October 8, 1793 at the age of 63. He attended Harvard and became a lawyer. He got married and had children.

John Hancock was born and raised in Massachusetts. He later became the first governor of Massachusetts.

My hero John Hancock was famous for many things. He was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence and his signature is the largest one. The signing of the Declaration took place in New York.

John Hancock risked his life by signing the Declaration of Independence. If the king was to win the war he would have had those who signed it hung. The Declaration supported the patriots in their war.

John Hancock's bravery inspires me. He signed the Declaration of Independence because he knew it was the right thing, even though it could have gotten him in a lot of trouble. His courage has impacted my life because I want to be as courageous as he was.
