Hilda (mom)

My mom is my hero. She is from Mexico and has many siblings. My mom has about three sisters and two brothers. Most of them live in San Diego but one of my uncles is in Mexico. My mom learned that life is hard but you can overcome it, if you just try and never give up. She only had two children, which were my sister and I. She came to San Diego, CA when she was about fifteen years old and had a better life here because in Mexico, life was hard for her.

I could describe my mom as a hard worker. She is a hard worker because she works every day non-stop to provide to her family. She works as a housekeeper and what I have learned is that it's a really hard job because I have helped her before. It was really tiring. One of her goals was to go to adult school and get her GED because she only got to high school. She couldn't afford to pay for high school in Mexico. Hilda, my mom, is also determined. She is determined to finish things she sets for herself. Adult school was very hard for her mostly because she had to go straight from work to school, but she still managed to finish. She encourages me to go to school and get good grades because it will benefit you. Never giving up and trying hard will benefit you right now and in the future too.

Every family will always have problems, no one is perfect. My mom had to overcome problems, mostly with her parents and financial issues. Her mom and dad would always fight and argue. She grew up seeing her parents fight and she won't forget those days. They couldn't afford to eat and pay for school because her dad would always be drinking. Because of that my mom started working when she was twelve years old. She worked selling food with her grandma and would wake up early in the morning to work, then go to school. From that day and on she worked non-stop, but it came to a point where her dad kicked her family out of the house. That day was hard for her and she had to go live at her aunt's house. From my mom's life, I have learned that she suffered a lot and that is why she wants my sister and I to do good and have a better life than she did. Now, our family sometimes argue but we forgive each other and talk about our problems together, so we won't cause bigger ones.

My mom is my hero because she has taught me many things. She will always be there for me no matter what because she brought me into this world. I have learned that she loves me a lot even if we have arguments and could be mad at each other. She pushes me and encourages me to do good in school and be successful like my sister will be. Even if life gets harder each time you grow and there are obstacles she always has my back by helping me, planning fun things to do with the family, and providing me comfort. I have learned that my mom is my best friend because she will always be in my life and I love her. In addition, I admire my mom's hard work and all the things she had done for me in life.
