Ho Chi Minh

My hero is Ho Chi Minh. 1890 he was born in Hoàng Trù Village, Viet Nam. In 1946 he was the first president of Vietnam, but France did not recognize him because the French wanted Vietnam as a colony. Therefore he commanded the Việt Minh against the French. When the French gave up 1954, he became the president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

He was an important person by the reunification of Vietnam and he was an important symbol for the west Europeans. Although he lived a simple life -he lived in a two room house (but he could have a palace), he got worshiped as a cult hero in North Vietnam and the old capital of South Vietnam was named Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh died on the morning of September 2, 1969, at his home in Hanoi at the age 79 from multiple health problems. After his death, his corpse was laid out in the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum in Hanoi, although but he never wanted it.

The Vietnamese call him Bac Ho (uncle Ho).
