The king of handcuffs, the one and only Eric Weisz or better known as Harry Houdini. Houdini, grew up with his family of five. The entire family had to work to get money because their family was poor. Harry had a job when he was eight years old! As Houdini was growing up the family had to move from house to house to avoid tax collectors. One day, Houdini and his brother saw a traveling musician and Houdini was inspired by him to become a magician himself.

Houdini’s real name was Eric Weisz. He got the name Houdini by adding an “I” to a French magician’s name. In his earlier career he was a very big success in the US. He first started out at fairs and caravels. Houdini was so sure of himself he made an offer to the people. Whoever could handcuff Houdini without having him break out of them he would offer 200 dollars. However no one could sufficiently hand cuff Houdini. Because of his famous escapes from hand cuffs, he called himself the “King of Handcuffs.”

However, Houdini also made many other famous escapes. He was buried alive in a glass casket and instead of being buried with dirt he was buried with cement. He not only escapes handcuffs, he also escaped from jail cells, straight jackets, milk cans, ropes, and chains. Houdini always claimed when he died he would come back from the dead.

Houdini told any man to step up and punch him as hard as they could in the gut. However one day a teenager walked up to Houdini and slugged him in the gut. Houdini seemed to be fine at first. But a few days later the “King of Handcuffs” Harry Houdini had died. He died on Halloween. To this very day on Halloween people try to contact Harry Houdini from the other side. Although Houdini is dead his magic still lives on to be an inspiration to all in some way or somehow.

The most inspiring magician ever to live was Harry Houdini. Houdini is not only a magician he is a hero. We will never forget the man who brought magic a whole new meaning. When the next Halloween rolls around, I hope you take a moment out of your time to remember a hero known as Harry Houdini. To the world he was not only talented but also self-confident of himself. To me Harry Houdini can never be replaced, that is way he is a hero to all, because there is one Harry Houdini.
