Rick and Dick Hoyt

In my definition, a hero is someone who inspires, who is confident, and who can make an impact. These character traits can also be used to describe heroes. My heroes fit all those characteristics. They are a father, son team who inspire all that have a special connection with them, love to run, or who is impacted by anyone who makes a difference. My heroes are Rick and Dick Hoyt.

I believe that Rick and Dick Hoyt are heroes because they can inspire everyone. They have run 32 Boston Marathons, despite the challenges. Rick was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and has traveled as far as about 1,100 running events. When Rick was paralyzed, the doctors said he would be no use to them. However, Rick's parents saw that there was a sparkle in his eye. They made sure that he would be treated like a normal child was. Most fathers always have your back, but Dick has gone farther. Rick and Dick Hoyt have kept going in any weather, and know that it takes some effort. The team inspires others to run, no matter the cause. I am inspired by Rick and Dick Hoyt because they show that you can do anything you set your mind to, no matter the challenge.

I believe that Rick and Dick Hoyt are heroes because they are confident. They ran their final Boston Marathon in 2015, despite the challenges. Dick had back pain, but they found a solution. The team got someone else to run the race and they continued to run. To me, this shows true confidence. Another thing that proves confidence is the fact that the Hoyts believed Rick would be able to make a difference in the way others thought. These things take some pure confidence, and I believe that this team has shown it.

think this team can make an impact because of their struggles. Sometimes, struggles help others realize how the people of the world can be. These people have been through many medical struggles, including diseases and pains. Rick has cerebral palsy and Dick has back pain. To keep going in these times makes others realize what you can do. All people have a chance to make an impact, but sometimes people seize the moment. Rick and Dick are part of the group people that can make an impact. These people are important, and we need to make sure that we pay attention to them.
