My hero is I. King Jordan because he inspires me. He born on June 16, 1943 at Glen Riddle, Pennsylvania. He was hearing till 21 years old. He has a wife and two children. He also has two brothers.
At the age of 21, he had a very bad accident in Washington, DC.. He rode a motorcycle without helmet. He was ejected from motorcycle and got himself a fractured skull. He became deaf. He had a hard time to learn American Sign Language and deaf culture. He was discharged from the Navy and enrolled in the Gallaudet University. He became a professor at Gallaudet.
In 1988, Gallaudet University was seized by the students in protest of selecting a hearing president over a deaf president. They were protesting for a week where they finally selected I. King Jordan as the first president of Gallaudet University.
He demonstrated heroism when he inspires, fight for the others, and risks in what he believes in. He accepted who he is after the fact he lost his hearing from the accident. He transformed himself into the deaf world. He inspires many deaf people who went through the trauma. He also fought for what he believes that is best for everyone.
